Botox injections are noted primarily for their ability to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes. Botox is a brand name for botulinum toxin, which blocks the nerves that contract muscles under the skin. Both Botox and Dysport are brand names of a highly purified protein derived from Botulinium Toxin A. These target the facial muscle which cause wrinkles formation. Botox blocks the nerve impulses to the muscle which significantly reduces the appearance of the lines and wrinkles on the skin above the treated muscle giving you a youthful appearance.
This blocking effect lasts for around 3 to 6 months where the muscle will regain the movements and wrinkles can reappear.
